Abrasive Wheel training

Abrasive Wheels training is a classroom-based course that ensures you are competent and safe when using and inspecting different abrasive wheel types on Handheld Angle Grinders, Bench Grinders, and Petrol Cut-off Saws. This is a half-day course is designed for a maximum of eight candidates.

During the course, you will learn the steps necessary to use abrasive wheels safely and legally, which will help reduce accidents and enable you to work within the required legislation.

Course Content:

• Health and Safety legislation overview, including HASWA 99, PUWER 98, MHSWR 99, PPER 92.

• Hazards and risk control measures associated with the use of Abrasive Wheels.

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selection & requirements.

• Resin Bonded Abrasive Wheel Selection, Identification, and Inspection types 27, 41 & 42 

• Identifying types of abrasive wheel machines and their safe use.

• Correct use, setting, adjustment, and inspection.

• Pre-use machine safety checks.

• How to mount an abrasive wheel on various equipment, including hand-angle grinders

• Pre-Use machine safety checks

• Practical safe set-up (no live cutting or grinding) available on request*.

• Multiple-choice Assessment Paper.

• Course duration 3-4 hours.

Minimum of 5 people required.
